Can't trust the Cats

Sorry that it has been so long since we have posted any pictures. We have been busy with our two new housemates and the chaos that has ensued. Which brings us to the purpose of this post.

Baci is being a jerk. He keeps chasing Chloe and Smudge. There have been couple of fur-flying fights, which has upset Grandma terribly. So we decided that we need to stop encouraging Baci's bad behaviour and at the same time try to increase Smudge and Chloe's comfort in roaming about the house.

So I laid down a new rule...

If Baci attacks either Chloe or Smudge, he has to go for a time out in the bedroom.

It worked for about thirty minutes when his bestest furriend ever, Dolce, decided to spring him from the room. That's right, Dolce figured out how to open the door and let Baci out.

Now what do I do? Outsmarted by my cats again. Maybe I should give in to my wife's desire for a puppy...Hmmm...

  2. What else do you expect from an Attack Tabby trained by Bonnie herself? "Cat vs Cat" recommends something good happens when Baci is nice to Smudge and Chloe. Like treats or play time. Could you hit him with a squirt gun when he starts to chase? Or distract him into play with an appropriate toy?

  3. We used to put Grr in the time-out room when she tried to eat Riley. It didn't help because she loved being in her own room. The only thing that has worked is the bell collar. Riley can hear her coming and get out of the way, and we know where Grr is at all times so we can be ready with the squirt bottle if necessary.

  4. We've never had someone pick on the other cats--well Georgia TRIED to pick on Iggy but Iggy was bigger and badder so they worked it out themselves. I think the good thing happening is a good idea. Also making sure Baci gets attention before attacking and doesn't get rewarded with the attention AFTER attacking.

  5. we agree - giving Baci treats for being nice might work better. When mommy and daddy moved in with grammy and grampy for a few weeks while they gotted a new place to live, they hadded to keep ralphie away from grammy and grampy's cat scooter. so the rule was, trixie, norton and ralph got the rule of the house for 3 hours, then they wented in their room and scooter came out for 3 hours. actually that worked out pretty well for the few weeks that they lived together.
