Smudge is home!

Although I didn't get to talk very much to Dr. Nick when I picked Smudge today, he did let me know that Smudge's last bloodwork came back all within normal levels.

We now have to get him a the low-protein diet especially for cats with kidney problems. There is a small wrinkle in that plan as Dolce and Bella will eat any soft food left lying around. We might have to start locking Smudge up so he can eat in peace.

The main thing is that he is home. He jumped up on my lap as soon as I sat down and started purring. He even went out into the garage with his sister for some 'sploring as Dolce likes to say.

Dr. Nick is going to phone us later tonight to arrange the sub-cutaneous fluid treatments. We will probably have to have him do it until my wife and I can strengthen ourselves to do it without Dr. Nick's help.

You can do the treatments! Smudge will understand! Ask the vet how he is doing with them, and we bet the vet says, oh, very well!

  5. oh we is so glad Smudge is home! we agree wif Brandi, you can do the treatments. Mommy saided that she was furry scared and cried hard the ferst couple of times she hadded to do them to Ralphie, but once she figured out that Ralphie didn't get hert, and he felt lots better, she stopped crying. She saided that it's scary the ferst few times, but it becomes routine after a while. But, YAY Smudge!!!! Keep feeling better!

We are very glad to hear Smudge is home and with bloodwork within normal levels! Well, if you have to separate Smudge to feed him, that's not too bad. We are just glad he is home and OK.

  12. Yay for Smudge being back home. I am very glad that he is feeling better. Separating him to feed him shouldn't be too bad. I hope you get the hang of the fluids quickly, so Smudge can stay home where he feels more comfortable.
